the vagabond was out on the scene and from the bar tops of the West Vill, to the rooftops of Bklyn, the kidz kept it schwagtastic. When the night falls and the shutter rolls please believe that the freaks & geeks do come out. POW
After private hurricane sessions with a Bk Boosky Oosky, the kid attended a Hurricane party. Now, when you have a dynamic group of cool kidz locked up for hours with only libations, lye and a freshly stocked cupboard of treats upon treats as our remedy, oh you better believe the night will be entertaining.
In the true nature of the vagabond, there was a camera on deck!… I mean, I had the camera ‘in hand’ because when the trees starting burnin’ and those Hurricane winds started to blow, folks were ready to go out! blunts-blazing! POW!
Here’s what was meant to be Tomorrow Coombs’ last words… turned out to be her last words… of that particular hour of the night… since Irene never came lol
I know it’s been a while and ohhh how I’ve missed all your stankin asses 8D
It’s been an amazing Schummer of Schwag and the kid stayed plenty busy at thee most poppinest places in the apple and beyond. Recaps are coming soon, trust n believe meh! But I figured, why not start at the end?
This summer ended with one of the most talked about events on the streets – Hurricane Irene. Just when the kidz thought they was gon be shakin ass and bumpin booties to Ms. Monae, Cee-Lo Green and Santigold, this bitch Irene said “Nah niggah, nahhhh. Its not e’en goin down like that shun!” So after an east coast rumble – Earthquake – the week before NYC gets a muh fckn hurricane. My dude! Is anybody thinkin Government conspiracy?? I’m just sayin shun.
Well, a near and dear boosky oosky of mine decided to throw a Hurricane party, and I’m sure the whole of the tri-state was gettin down with the git-down as well. And while the night ended with Irene’s ass huffin n puffin, giving NYC one of thee most unsuccessful BlowJobs in the history of mankind, there was plenty of debachaury on mankind’s end to keep the night rollin right along.
So, in true fashion, the vagabond compiled a video diary of how Hurricane Irene dry humped the fuck out of nyc.
But here’s a lil pregame candy for the artistic eye of me, she & Billie on the eve before the storm…
Enjoy… pts2, 3 (and how ever many more shorts I decided to edit) coming shortly shun
::Wearing – black scrubs, 3 sizes larger than my ass; black cut off tank; argyle socks on my feets::
::NP – Break My Heart by Estelle feat Lloyd Banks & Ricky Rozay::
Aye cool kidz! the vagabond has so much to share and trust, thine absence has not been in vain! Yea I said THINE. And??
So last weekend marked Brklyn (betta known as Crklyn) PRIDE, and the kidz were OUT, out ke-kow-ow-ow! *gay reference, you can try and google that shit!* I hung out with the coolest of kidz from Brklyn and Boston-baked-beans-town, and the not-so-co0l kidz – we’ll call them members of the bois n gurrrrls club. Mmm *tosses hair* But we’ll start with night before all the gay-day-festivitites began. Thursday night I rode in the cab from hell and thus begins… the Cabbie Chronicles.
06/10/2011
Believe it or not, the vagabond still had some belongings at the SoHo Schwag pad, my last living space… I know, I’m a movin ass muh fucka, hence the name ‘the vagabond’ bitchez!
This was the last day I had to move my things because my former roommie was expecting guests and my bags were mos def taking up space. So here I am on a dark and mutha fckn stormy, all 105lbs of me with an excessive amount of baggage (symbolism like mug), trying to get a cab on Bleecker St. BTW I am convinced that you nyc cabbie niggas are racist! You only stop for Tom and Jane, and when you do stop for a browner toned individual, you wanna charge the PRICE of MY SOUL for cab ride to the fckn Bronx. But since the kid does not drive I was expecting oh so many friends to help me move this shit and only one came through, my Ace, stylist and image consultant – Ms. C.C. Hampton (@soufnthacity) aka my go to for that Schwag *previous blog ref*
C.C. arrives at the SoHo Schwag pad and can immediately sense that I needed a calm down so we take 4, 5, 6 strolls around SoHo, puffin, passing & coming up with a master plan for our next venture. Once my mind is at ease and we’d come to the conclusion to take all my shit to Bushwick, we marched back to Bleeker and finally get a yellow cab van to pick our black asses up. To our pleasure it was a ‘Brotha Maaaan”… or so we thought!
Brotha Maaaan pulls over and immediately starts to cuss Ms. C.C. out when he sees my mountain of baggage. In his thick and apparent African accent (no I’m not sure which part of the fckn continent, I just knew the nigga was from Africa) he starts poppin off, “this is too much, I need to work”. So Ms. C.C. calmly responds “You drivin a cab, ain’t you? Then nigga let’s werrrk!”
::One of the many reasons I keeps her in my stratosphere hunni::
After the struggle of the century we finally get all my shit packed and organized in the cab. Oh but it’s not over! This nigga starts speaking in tongues and praying to Jehovah and we know he was praying for our heathen asses. I just cannot for the life of me, get down with organized religion. I mean, to each his/her own cool kidz. Brotha Maaaan was so saved and sanctified but ya ass wasn’t holy rollin when you were cussin out my Ace outside of your cab. We proceed to film and document all the events from the back seat and all the while this marc-ass is in the front seat praying to his white Jesus. How bout you keep your eyes on the road and outa that rear view. Yes, bitch, you’re on candid camera so act right!
When we finally touch down in Bushwick and all I’m thinking is “Let us just remove my shit ASAP before I catch a case”.
::sidenote – I’ve had the longest of days and I just knew that I would need to FUCK or FIGHT in order to relieve this stress. Now since I aint on yo pussy bitch, I’m on my own shit *yeezy reference, google it!* I knew it was gon’ be the latter::
As soon as we step out the cab, Brotha Maaaan starts grabbing my shit. Oh you best believe the hood crept outa my ass cause it was all hand clapping and ‘dead ass my nigga’ after that. I told Ms. C.C. to film allat shit and as soon as the camera started to rollin, Brotha Maaaan was off in the cool down corner with a dunce cap on cause he knew his ass was bouta be viral than a muh fucka! When all was said and done, I’d got my things into the crib and Ms. C.C. rolled two of the biggest blizzes you’ve never seen.
On June 17th, 2011, artist + choreographer + DJ, Daví, will be debuting his wildly exciting Electronic Press Kit at People Lounge, 163 Allen Street, 8p-11p. This event will be hosted blaxploitation creator and film legend, Melvin Van Peebles.
Cover :: FREE | Dress Code :: Real Fly
Daví is an uncanny talent. As a choreographer, he’s worked with R&B Singer, Ashanti (Def Jam); Electro-Pop group, Telephoned (Fool’s Gold); and Hip Hop/Electronica group, Cubic Zirconia (Lucky Me/Cry Baby) with whom he was featured on Fox’s Fearless TV, toured and choreographed 2 music videos. He is the choreographer of the upcoming 2011 Lionsgate comedy feature film, We the Peeples, where he worked with such talents as Kerry Washington, Craig Robinson, David Alan Grier, Tyler James Williams, S. Epatha Merkerson, Kali Hawk and Melvin Van Peebles.
In 2011, he presents his music of the genre he’s entitled afro.electro.funk; a dynamic form of music which can only be likened to a theoretical genre-free, politically-charged, soulful child of electronica icon, M.I.A. and funk pioneer, George Clinton.
Daví’s first single, “That Thump (New Music In Yo Ear)” produced by DâM FunK was released in April 2011 and set the blog world ablaze. On blogs such as MommyWarbucks.com, GreedmontPark.com and ThePrettyDope.com, Daví has been compared to everyone from Prince to Bootsy Collins to Chromeo and called “one of the finest talents of our days,” (TwistedJazz.blogspot.com).
Daví’s Electronic Press Kit is atypical in that it doesn’t include the normal interview style but instead Daví uses snippets of songs from his EP to take to viewer on a fantastic journey of mystery, metaphor and magic. The video features a 3-headed Daví, his incomparable dancing and beams shoot from his mouth among other things, all showcasing Daví’s rule-breaking, new, honest approach to art.
Daví and Melvin Van Peebles met on the set of “We the Peeples”, where Daví taught Peebles choreography. Peebles calls Daví’s EPK “sensational and gripping.”
At the release party, Melvin Van Peebles will speak and introduce the video. After the video, 3 exclusive selections from Daví’s EP will be played. Afterwards, Daví will be available for a brief and thoughtful Q&A. On June 18th, at 3pm the video will debut on online media platforms.
For more information about Daví, to receive a press/media VIP invite for the release party, to get exclusive access to the video for its release on the 18th or to schedule an interview, please contact info@bydavi.com.
Please join us in the launch of one of the most electric talents of our time!

Where was I? Yes ma’am, yes gurl! State of mind, Go season!
One of my favorite childhood books was Alice in Wonderland… the Golden books edition. What, the fck, you know bout Golden Books?? ::google it!::
It’s the part of the story where Alice comes to a fork in the road and seeks help from the Cheshire Cat. Go a lil shum like this-
`Cheshire Puss,’ she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however, it only grinned a little wider. `Come, it’s pleased so far,’ thought Alice, and she went on. `Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’
`That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the Cat.
`I don’t much care where–’ said Alice.
`Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said the Cat.
I think I like this quote because I’ve always been such a wanderer. I mean, I wasn’t on that shit Alice was on. I know exactly where I wanna go, but I’ve never been afraid to let the path find me, feel meh? Let me get a lil cosmic on that ass.
I’ve always let my intuition lead me, following feelings and signs. Dharma in a sense. Kharma ::doing unto others as you’d have them do unto you or doing shit for others because you’re expecting them to return the favor:: Instead, Dharma challenges you to just DO bitch, for the end result. What have I learned from this experience? Where has it taken me? Have I made steps toward a particular goal and what was this experience meant to teach me in this moment.
This week started out with me taking a giant ass leap forward and then ‘Two Steps waaaay Down’ * play on words to be explained later in post*
After spending the week with editor’s ass, *google it!*, chopping up commercials to be aired on telly, I met a very influential gaffer on Friday, my last day at the pro-house. She who shall not be named has worked with one Mr. Lee!. Yaasssss bitch, Spike Lee and she has an extensive IMDB page… No let me correct that, PAGES darling, pages. We shall call her GurlGaffer.
The meeting was quite serendipitous. We were introduced through one of her Production Assistants. I met him during the week while they were working on a commercial shoot. While being introduced to GurlGaffer I noticed that we both had locks (well kept, I likes), both rocking the RayBans and both sipping on an Arizona in the can! My dude it was some twilight zone-ish type shit. The most important part of this story is that GurlGaffer was a ‘brown girl’. I stress this point because I’m often the only woman on set and this woman has been running the gaffer game for a minute… a male dominated game.
I caught a ride with her in the 15 passenger and my heart leapt with joy as we shot the shit, talking that film talk that a muh fucka get ::morning wood:: for! When the kid was set to depart the van in East Harlem, GurlGaffer invited me to work with her this week and was interested in taking me under her wing. I think she was just excited to meet another Afro Amer girrrrrl wrecking shit where most women dare not tread. Or maybe I just want to believe that the stars were aligned and GurlGaffer was generously laid on my path by the universe. Whatever the case, I will be schwerrrrrkin my ass off, stickin to this path like a muh.
So after taking two giant steps forward, I decided to go out and celebrate the event by getting white girl wasted and lost my goddam phone. This happened after starting the night at the venue rightfully called “Two Steps Down”. Maybe I should’ve seen the name as a muh fuckin sign that the night wouldn’t end so well *kicks rocks*. SMH at my damn self.
Parting thoughts… Where you’re going always matters. Don’t be afraid to take risks on the way. Live, learn and keep your phone in your bag on nights of extensive puffing and passing.
One of my favorite holidays is approaching… NO, not my bday, but you betta believe that muh fucka in the pipeline ::stay tuned for more details in a later post on the bash of the century, my dude!::
But yes ma’am, yes girrrrl! PRIDE 2011 is upon us and I am indeed feeling the holiday spirit.
